Things to Know

1. Layered clothing, jeans, boots, and a hat or cap are best for riding. Panty hose help prevent chafing. Padded bike shorts under jeans make for a comfortable ride.

2. The weather is beautiful here but varies. Be prepared for weather changes. Sunscreen, chapstick and rain gear are good to have.

3. Bring your own water for all rides. You can bring your own lunch for half-day and longer rides. Or, we can provide lunch with advance notice for $8.00.

4. For overnights, bring your own sleeping bag and tent. 4-wheel drive vehicles meet you at camp with the supplies. Tents, sleeping bags and cots can be rented with advance notice.

5. Bring a fanny pack for camera, extra film, water, and snacks and a canteen or water bottle.

6. Reservations, especially for overnight and multi-day rides, should be made in advance.

Overnight Mystery Valley rides leave about 4 hours before sunset from Agathla Peak. (3:30 p.m. or 4:00 p.m.) The ride to camp is 3 hours. The next morning it is a 3 hour ride back to Agathla Peak by a different trail. You arrive about noon.

Riding and touring on the Navajo Nation require a guide. The local guides can also explain the history from Anasazi to the present and share insights into Navajo culture.

The Navajo Nation operates on Mountain/Daylight time from the middle of April until almost the end of October since it extends into three states. Therefore, their time is one hour later than the rest of Arizona during these months.
